@FLOOG: It was taken through my dining room window, that's why the colors are a bit washed out. The poor woodpecker was trying to find food on the telephone pole.... :-) Thanks for the compliment,

@standley: C'était une journée d'automne avec un tout petit peu de brume, en plus je l'ai prise à travers de la vitre de ma salle à diner, ce qui a rendu les couleurs encore plus délavées. Le pauvre pic-bois frappait sur le poteau de téléphone! Merci pour la visite,

@Suzanne Labbé: Je n'ai pas de mérite pour celui-ci, il est venu directement chez moi, a piccossé un peu sur mon vinaigrier est ensuit a travaillé très fort sur le poteau. J'ai pris la photo à travers de la fenêtre pour ne pas l'effrayer, même si la qualité de la photo en souffre. Merci pour le commentaire,

Si vous regardez la photo de près, le Pic bois pi cosse sur le fil noir. C'est un fil de téléphone.
La compagnie de téléphone, Bell Canada, a d’énormes dommages causés sur leur câblage extérieur par ces jolis petits Pic bois. Ils pi cossent le revêtement extérieur du câble jusqu'au centre, ce qui crée une pénétration d'eau et les fils à l'intérieur s'endommage.
Il y a environ une centaines de kilomètres de câble endommagé par les Pic bois sur le territoire des Cantons de l’Est. Bell fait construire des câbles à double gaine avec revêtement plus dur spécialement pour contrer ce phénomène qui existe depuis environ 15 ans.
Ce que Marcel Lemieux dit en farce, est une des hypothèses qu’on croit mais non prouvée. Bell a commencé à transporter de l’internet depuis environ 15 ans et ça l’a toujours augmenté. L’internet utilise d’autres fréquences que le transport de la voix.
Est-ce que ces nouvelles fréquence attirent les Pic bois ???
Le courant utilisé pour le téléphone est de 52 V. DC, ce qui n’est pas dangereux.
Donc Wolfgang, le Pic bois pi cosse le fil de téléphone de ton voisin.

@Elle: This one was pecking at a telephone pole, where he sure was not getting any food. They eat insects and larvae hidden in the bark of trees, and telephone poles are treated agains these insects. Thanks for your visit!

@Laurent: Pour ce pic-bois je n'ai pas de mérite, il es venu chez moi, a "picossé" sur mon vinaigrier et est allé ensuite sur le poteau de téléphone. J'ai pris la photo à travers la vitre de ma salle à dîner, ce qui explique le petit flou. Merci pour ta visite,
