The detail and color are excellent. Looks like she's enjoying a fine meal.

18 Mar 2008 6:12am

@Michael Skorulski: Johanne is feeding the birds at home, this way she could watch and picture those birds at leisure.

Beautiful capture, great bird detail - never seen a bird like that before!

Suzanne Labbé from Granby, Québec, Canada

Gilles,
Just in case Tracey doesn't see your question, here are the woodpeckers that could be seen in Maryland :

Red-headed Woodpecker - Pic à tête rouge
Red-bellied Woodpecker - Pic à ventre roux
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - Pic maculé
Downy Woodpecker - Pic mineur
Hairy Woodpecker - Pic chevelu
Northern Flicker - Pic flamboyant
Pileated Woodpecker - Grand Pic

However, if we look at the 2006 Baltimore's Great Backyard Bird Count, the species that I suspect would be the most popular at the Tracey's suet feeder would be the Red-bellied and Downy Woodpeckers as well as the Northern Flicker.

Too many details LOL

Suzanne
