leslie from Bruce Penninsula, Canadacette un jolie cabane du sucre!!!!! mmm maple syrup poured on snow. very nice shot with lots of depth. 11 Dec 2007 5:35am @leslie: Merci leslie, and you are right, maple toffee poured on snow is the highlight of any visit to the sugar shack. For most of us here in Québec it's a family tradition nobody wants to skip. @paola veneziani photography: Sì, l'inverno nella nostra zona può essere molto piacevole. Grazie per voi chiamata, medam961 from Sarajevo, Bosnia and HerzegovinaI like that little wooden house among the trees and the plain that extends to the mountains. Beautiful sight! 11 Dec 2007 10:26am @medam961: Dobar dan medam. It is not really a house, it's a rough wooden shack that farmers in our region build in their stands of maple trees. In the spring they drill holes in the trees to collect the sap of the maple trees. This sap is brought to the shack where a giant evaporator condenses it to maple syrup. Depending on the quality of the sap one needs between 25 to 40 litres of sap for one litre of maple syrup. If you can find maple syrup in Sarajevo, I can highly recommend it on pancakes... Wolfgang Prigge from Granby, Québec, CanadaBravo Gérard-Pierre et bienvenue sur vu@granby! 11 Dec 2007 12:28pm @Walt: Thanks for your comment on Gérard-Pierre's photo, à la prochaine, Sandra Rocha from Alfândega da Fé, PortugalQue bela paisagem, faz lembrar um amor na cabana (normalmente não dão certo). 11 Dec 2007 2:33pm @Sandra Rocha: Obrigado muitos do comentário, @KMF: Thanks a lot, @melodee: Merci beaucoup. MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomOooo! this is an absolutely beautiful winter scene. A fantastic photograph. 11 Dec 2007 5:34pm @MaryB: Thank you. It's from our new member Gérard-Pierre. @Reza: Merci Reza! @Witchpanther: Mille grazie, Amir from ?, IranWow, should be very cold, love to visit these lovely places but I don't know if I would survive it. 11 Dec 2007 6:46pm @Amir: Oh, I'm sure you would. Our houses are well built for the climate, we have a very good heating system and going outside in cold weather is good for your health One can start slowly, going out for a few minutes and build up on this. The best thing of course is doing winter sports. Rabbit from Richmond, United Statessuch a quaint photo. mmm looks like a treasured spot to live with quite the view. 11 Dec 2007 7:30pm @Rabbit: Thanks. Our mountains here in the Eastern Townships are old and worn down, so we have wide open spaces between them and get a good view. Michael from Wuppertal, GermanyLove this scenery! Must be great here... I´ve never been to Canada yet. I think, it´s one of the must-have seen-country's in the world... 11 Dec 2007 8:44pm @Michael: Vielen Dank. Es stimmt, Kanada hat in jeder Hinsicht viel zu bieten. visiones from Athens, Greece...ça fait penser aux histoires qu'on lisait en tant que gamins..../makes us think about the stories we used to read as children... 12 Dec 2007 1:03am Rags from Plano, United Stateswow! this is a really cool image. I love the composition ie the inclusion of the house as well as the environment. 12 Dec 2007 2:15am Daigneault - Photographe from Granby, Québec, CanadaC'est un excellent début G-Pierre : gilles 12 Dec 2007 8:37am Gérard-Pierre Lussier from Granby, CanadaMerci , Thank you, Danke, Grazie, Gracias, 12 Dec 2007 1:50pm Ras from Plano, United StatesIsolated glory, I love the way the picture feels in that environment, like in the cold the cabin is warm inside. 12 Dec 2007 3:27pm @Ras: Thanks. When the big evaporator inside the sugar shack goes full blast, it is more than warm inside, and you have to imagine the sweet smell of hot maple syrup.... Is your mouth watering already?
